SULPHUR-DIOXIDE BINDING POWDER FOR BINDING SULPHUR-DIOXE IN THE FIRE-PLACE

The additive contains a petroleum product and potassium hydroxide, and has a moisture content of 0-10%. The organic solvent soluble component is 10-50% and the ash content is 50-85%. More than 80% of the ash is potassium oxide. The additive powder produces 10-30% by mass of steam, in a temperature region 250-500[deg]C, w.r.t the dry mass of the powder. The additive powder is suitable for use in the combustion space of coal-burning furnaces. The powder contains potassium compounds, which fix sulfur dioxide, and also components which generate steam producing micro-explosive effects. The micro-explosions prevent the clogging of the sulfur dioxide fixing pores of the solid component by the gypsum produced, improving the efficiency of the sulfur dioxide fixing component.
