The object of proposing an aluminium alloy foil with improved barrier properties, a method for its manufacture and a use of the aluminium alloy foil is achieved in that the aluminium alloy foil has a maximum number of pores with a pore size of 1 μm to 200 μm of maximum 12 per dm2, maximum 8 per dm2 or maximum 6 per dm2.
