Zusammenfassung:6-methyl-2-(4-methyl-phenyl)-imidazo(1,2- a)pyrimidine-3-(N,N-dimethyl-acetamide) (I) is prepared by reaction of an acetate ester (II) with dimethylamine in a polar aprotic solvent. Preparation of a compound of formula (I), or an acid addition salt of (I), comprises: (a) reaction of an ester compound of formula (II) with dimethylamine in a polar aprotic solvent; and optionally (b) converting the product (I) into an acid addition salt. R = lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alky.l Independent claims are included for: (i) esters (II), with the exception of (II; R = ethyl), and (ii) crystalline esters of formula (II).
