Zusammenfassung:	An arrangement for the thermal treatment of, and/or for passing a gas through, granular substances (7) is provided with a grid (1) for receiving the substances (7) to be treated, a suction box (2) arranged beneath the grid and gas-impermeable support elements (5), roughly in the plane of the grid (1), connecting to the side edges (3) of the grid (1). In order to be able to pass treatment gases evenly through the sustances to be treated, so that a uniform quality is ensured over the cross section, the arrangement is furnished with sidewalls (10) and extending upwardly from the grid (1) and these sidewalls (10) connect to the outside edges (9) of the support elements (5) (Fig. 1).
