Zusammenfassung:The furnace, e.g. for melting of borosilicates, comprises a melting chamber 2 and a working chamber 3. The melting chamber 2 is provided at opposite side walls 6 with the two rows of electrodes, viz plate electrodes 10 near the bottom and bar electrodes 11 above them. The ratio of the number of plate electrodes 10 to bar electrodes 11 is 1.1-3:1. All the said electrodes situated at the same side wall 6 of the melting chamber 2 are connected to the same phase of a regulatable two-phase electric power source.
