Independent claims are included for: (1) an absorption medium for absorbing carbon dioxide from gas mixture, comprising either water, sulfolane and (I), or water, at least one ionic liquid and (I); and (2) a device for separating carbon dioxide from gas mixture, comprising an absorption unit, a desorption unit and a recirculating absorption medium, where the absorption medium is as above per se.
