Zusammenfassung:	A system and method are provided for self-scheduling appointments via an electronic network. The user sends a scheduling request to a server and the authorisation of the user and/or the request is determined. Upon the receipt of an authorised request a database is accessed to identify a pre-authorised scheduling ticket for the user, the pre-authorised scheduling ticket including appointment scheduling information. An appointment proposal in accordance with the appointment scheduling information is provided to the user. Once a schedule has been accepted the information is included in the database. A set of rules can be applied to the appointment request to determine if the requested appointment is allowed. The set of rules can be hierarchical in nature.
