Zusammenfassung:	A number of specific compounds which are tertiary amines wherein one of the N-attached radicals is o-hydroxybenzyl are described and claimed. They are prepared by reacting a phenol with a secondary amine and the appropriate aldehyde.ALSO:Elastomers are protected against oxidation by incorporating therein prior to vulcanization a monomeric, free tertiary amine in which one of the N-attached radicals is o-hydroxybenzyl, the others being alkyl or aryl (optionally substituted) or cycloalkyl. Examples relate to natural rubber compositions.ALSO:Hydrocarbon lubricating oils are protected against oxidation by incorporating therein a monomeric, free tertiary amine in which one of the N-attached radicals is o-hydroxybenzyl, the others being alkyl or aryl (optionally substituted) or cycloalkyl.
