A transparent or translucent panes comprises a central layer of an indicator substance having optical properties which are reversible under the influence of heat, a base layer of silicate glass or synthetic resin on which the indicator substance is supported, and a top layer of synthetic resin the edges of which are secured to the base layer to seal hermetically the indicator substance against ambient air. The indicator substance may be coated with a lacquer prior to sealing and the synthetic resin may include glass powder or glass fibre as a filler.
