Zusammenfassung: | 951,613. Cooling reactors. SOC.NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. March 17, 1960 [March 21, 1959; Dec. 9, 1959 (2)], No. 9506/60. Drawings to Specification. Heading G6C In nuclear fuel elements, cooling of the fuel mass is effected by a coolant fluid which flows along the elements. In certain of the embodiments a proportion of the longitudinal flow is deflected perpendicularly, through orifices, to form small jets. These promote turbulence in the longitudinal flow by producing transverse auxiliary circulating paths which increase the heat transfer from the fuel to the coolant. In other embodiments in which deflecting surfaces promote the auxiliary circulating paths, the surfaces are either separate, inclined, plates mounted across the direction of flow -or are single, helically twisted, surfaces-disposed along the flow axis. The fuel may be in the form of rods, tubes or plates and immersed in the coolant so as to permit the longitudinal and transverse coolant flow over the external surfaces. Each external surface is swept by a number of similar transverse circulating currents. Specification 831,758 is referred to. |
