A plane diaphragm 13, formed from laminated material as claimed in Claim 2 of the parent Specification, has attached to one of its faces a centrally positioned disc 18, substantially thicker than the diaphragm, of expanded, exploded, or foamed plastic material (preferably polystyrene), the laminated material 13 being stretched over a mounting ring 14 and affixed thereto with adhesive. A speech coil 16 is attached to the diaphragm 13 (Figs. 2, 4) or to the disc (Fig. 3).
