Zusammenfassung: | 899,019. Powder metallurgy. PUROLATOR PRODUCTS Inc. Aug. 3, 1960, No. 26921/60. Class 82(1). [Also in Group XXII] Filter elements comprising compacts of a mixture of powdered metal and a resin binder such as polystyrene are bonded together by heating one of the elements to soften the binder and then pressing the other element against the heated element, the bonded elements being finally sintered together in a packing of alumina. As shown in Fig. 1, a "green" preformed convoluted member 10 composed of metal powder, polystyrene resin, wax and xylene is joined to a similar "green" disc 11 by heating this disc to 200‹C. and pressing member 10 against the softened disc. A further disc may then be bonded to the other end of 10 by repeating the process. In a further embodiment the member 10 may be sintered prior to the bonding process and as shown in Fig. 5 a layer 17 of loose metal powder and resin may be placed in a trough 16 in disc 15 so that bonding is effected through this layer. |
