Zusammenfassung: | 892,439. Feeding magnetic tapes; television. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 12, 1960, No. 16849/60. Class 40 (2). A magnetic recorder and play-back device comprises a stationary cylinder 1, divided into upper and lower members coaxially supporting between them a rotary disc 3 carrying one or more magnetic heads 5 around its periphery, pins 15 to guide a magnetic tape 6 around the cylinder in a predetermined helical path, and means for forming a thin layer of gas between the surface of said cylinder and the magnetic tape to reduce friction between them. The disc 3 is driven at a high speed by motor 2. The cylindrical stator 1 has an inner wall 20 and an outer wall 19 between which is an annular air chamber 21, in which higher than atmospheric pressure is maintained. The air ejected through holes 22 forms a layer between the tape and the stator. For fast re-wind the air pressure is further increased. Grooves 23, 24 in the cylinder adjacent to the disc serve to suck a portion 1 of tape towards the stator and maintain contact between the tape and the heads. |
