Improvements relating to the preparation of organic aluminium

Compounds of the formul where X and Y are alkoxy, aryloxy or acyloxy groups, are prepared by reacting acyl chlorides with aluminium alkoxides, alkoxy acylates, alkoxy aryloxides or alkoxy aryloxy acylates; the originally present alkoxy group is removed as an ester with the acyl group, and the chlorine of the acyl chloride becomes attached to the aluminium. The reaction may be effected in solvents, at room or elevated temperature. According to the Provisional Specification, aluminium aryloxides and aryloxy acylates may also be used, the appropriate phenol being removed as an ester. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 795,222 and 806,182.
