Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:839,578. Injection moulding foamed polyurethane. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 23, 1957 [Jan. 11, 1957], No. 1123/57. Class 87(2). Long slender articles of foamed polyurethane are made by injecting a polyurethane foam generating mixture into a hollow mould with relative motion between the injection nozzle and the mould so that the mixture is deposited along the length of the mould, and then allowing the mixture to generate polyurethane foam so as to fill the mould. The mould may be of rigid or flexible material, e.g. polyethylene, polytetrafluoroethylene natural or synthetic rubber, polyvinyl chloride and copolymers thereof, or a textile fabric composed of e:g. wool, rayon, cotton, nylon or polyester fibres. The fabric may adhere to the foam and form a reinforcement or may be slit longitudinally and removed from the foamed article. In Fig. 4, a flexible mould D of circular cross-section is compressed axially so as to be stored upon the nozzle C and withdrawn therefrom as the rnxiture is discharged. A mandrel G may be fed into the mould simultaneuosly so as to form a tubular article. Uniform distribution of the mixture is ensured by rotating the mould and mandrel.
