[Also in Group XXXIV] In a rotary thrust bearing or rotary seal, one thrust member 1, Fig. 1, is provided with a facing layer of bearing material 5 having an annular plane surface 2 in which a series of circumferentially-spaced ramps 6 is formed, each ramp being inclined upwardly from a radial oil supply groove 7 and leading to a summit plane 8 which is co-planar with the surface 2 and is provided with a radial oil outlet groove 9. Oil is supplied to the grooves 7 from a circumferential groove 3 adjacent the inner end of the surface 2 and itself fed through rising passages 4. The second thrust member 10 is shown in Fig. 3, which is a developed sectional view of the bearing along the line III-III of Fig. 1. |
