Zusammenfassung: | 825,953. Moulding metal powder. MOND NICKEL CO. Ltd. July 23, 1957 [Aug. 3, 1956], No. 23998/56. Class 87(2). [Also in Group II] In order to facilitate the formation of strips by compacting metal powder between rollers, the air at the entry side of the nip of the rollers is replaced by a gas of lower viscosity than air, e.g. hydrogen. This allows the rolling speed to be increased beyond that possible with air. The gas may be at a pressure above atmospheric. Several constructions of rolling apparatus are described. As shown in Fig. 5, metal powder is fed from a hopper 8 by a screw 9 to rollers 1, 2. Hydrogen is fed into the casing 10 at 11, and air and excess hydrogen escape at 12. The speed of the screw may be controlled by probes 13 at critical high and low levels. The rollers axes may be in a vertical plane. |
