Zusammenfassung: | A process for the manufacture of polyurethanes comprises interacting at least one organic diisocyanate with castor oil partially esterified with 0.3 to 0.6 of an equivalent (per mol. of oil) of a mono- or di-carboxylic acid so as to have an acid value lower than 8 mgm. KOH per gm. Acids specified are oleic, lauric, coconut oil fatty acids, succinic, adipic, isophthalic and phthalic acids. Tolylene, diphenyl methane, mixed diaryl methane diisocyanates and 1 : 1-bis-(4-isocyanatophenyl)-cyclohexane are specified. The reaction may be effected in the presence of tertiary amines and of fillers such as mica or silica. The initial part of the reaction may be effected under reduced pressure. The products are useful for potting electrical components and for making resilient rollers. |
