Zusammenfassung:A lubricating composition comprises one or more organic triamidothionophosphates in admixture with one or more mineral or synthetic lubricating oils. The oil preferably contains 0.1-40 per cent, more preferably 0.5-3 per cent, of the additive. The latter may have the formula where R1, R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, are organic substituents, preferably alkyl, such as 2-ethylhexyl, octyl or lauryl, or aryl, such as a -naphthyl. The lubricating compositions may be obtained either by dissolving one or more triamidothionophosphates in an oil base, or by using the oil as a solvent for the manufacture of the additives. The triamidothionophosphates may be used in conjunction with other additives such as organic thiophosphates. The lubricating compositions have good anti-oxidizing, anti-corrosive and extreme pressure properties; these properties are tested on lubricating oil compositions containing the following additives: N-lauryl-N1,N11-dioctyl-, N - octyl - N1,N11 - dilauryl -, N,N1,N11 - tri - 2-ethylhexyl -, N,N1,N11 - tri - a - naphthyl - and N - lauryl - N1,N11 - di - 2 - ethylhexyl - triamidothionophosphates; in the first three compositions stearylamine may also be present. In some of the examples, the lubricating oil employed is a blend of castor oil and a naphthenic spindle oil. Specification 812,262, [Group XXIX], is referred to.ALSO:Organic triamidothionophosphates are used as additives to lubricant oils (see Group III). They may be represented by the formula: where R1, R2 and R3, which may be same or different, are organic substituents, preferably alkyl, such as 2-ethylhexyl, octyl and lauryl, or aryl, such as a -naphthyl. Compounds used in examples are N-lauryl-N1,N11-dioctyl-, N-octyl-N1,N11 - dilauryl -, N,N1,N11 - tri - 2 - ethyl-hexyl -, N,N1,N11 - tri - a - naphthyl -, and N-lauryl - N1,N11 - di - 2 - ethylhexyl - triamido-thionophosphates. Specification 812,262, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
