Zusammenfassung:796,558. Leaf turners. BLEZ, B., and SAPIR, A. S. April 4, 1956, No. 10233/56. Class 52(3) A leaf turner has a radial arm 3 carrying a permanent magnet 6 mounted at the bottom of a music rack and pedal-operated, through a cable 38, to swing through 180 degrees against a return spring. Depression of the pedal displaces a rack 29 to the left and rotates a gear wheel 24 concentric with a disc 18 having a crank pin and connecting rod 16 coupling it to a second rack 13 which is geared to the hub 4 of the radial arm 3. A ratchet is interposed between the gear wheel 24 and disc 18 whereby the latter is rotated only on the return stroke of the rack 29 produced by the spring 30 as the pedal is released. As the disc 18 rotates the first half-revolution moves the rack 13 to the right and swings the arm 3 to the right, so that the magnet 6 can engage a tab 11 on the leaf to be turned, while the next half-revolution returns the racks and arm 3 to normal position, the leaf being carried over by the magnet until the latter moves clear of the leaf, the spine of which is laterally displaced in relation to the axis of the arm 3. A dashpot 35 controls the action of the parts. In a modification the radial arm 3 is permitted to carry out its left-to-right swing as the pedal reaches its fully depressed position and is maintained in that position until the pedal is released.
