Zusammenfassung: | 3- and 4-cyanopyridines are recovered from hot gaseous mixtures (e.g. from oxidation of picolines in presence of ammonia) by conducting the mixture at 100 DEG C. or more into a scrubbing device where it is scrubbed with an aqueous solution of the reaction products under such conditions that the scrubbed gas leaves at a temperature not above 35 DEG C. and the aqueous solution is not saturated with cyanopyridine; the solution is then conducted into a separate device where it is cooled to deposit the cyanopyridine; after separation the solution is recycled to the scrubbing device. Under preferred condition the scrubbed gas leaves at about 25 DEG C. and the solution at least 5 DEG C. above saturation point. The temperature in the separating device is about 5-15 DEG C. Examples are given of the process and suitable apparatus is illustrated. The Provisional Specification refers to cyanopyridines in general. |
