Zusammenfassung: | 781,182. Vehicle driving gear. ELLIOTT & SONS (READING), Ltd., S. Oct. 4, 1955 [July ,14, 1954], No. 20567/54. Class 79(2) [Also in Group XXXII] A mounting for a vehicle road wheel comprises a spindle supported rigidly near the apex of an angled support sub-frame, the latter including a pair of members substantially at right angles to each other, one member extending longitudinally of the vehicle and pivotally connected near its free end at one side of the vehicle main frame, the other member extending across the vehicle and having its free end pivotally connected to the vehicle main frame at a point on the opposite side of the frame to the first pivotal connection. As shown, in which a stub axle 1 carrying a driven road wheel is mounted on a subframe comprising a channel member 8 and a tubular member 7 welded together at their junction 9, the free ends of the members 7 and 8 are connected through tubular extensions 6 and rubber bushes 5 to main frame members. A stiffening piece 11 forms the lower abutment for a suspension spring 12 the other end of which bears on the main frame. The road wheel is driven from an engine (not shown), through flexible couplings 16, 16a, a bearing 15a, secured to the sub-frame and chain and sprocket gearing 14, 18, 19. A non-driven wheel is similarly mounted at the other side of the vehicle. |
