Zusammenfassung:753,549. Accelerometers. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. March 29, 1954, No. 9152/54. Class 40(1) An accelerometer comprises a casing containing a mass supported for linear movement between its ends, a pick-up means responsive to the distance of the mass therefrom dispersed at one end of the casing and a stop means at the opposite end to restrict the amount of linear movement in either direction. A pair of resilient spiders 31, 30 clamped at their peripheries between parts 11, 12 and 12, 13 respectively of the cylindrical casing and at their centres between nut 33 and the mass 28, and between the latter and the disc 21 of magnetic material respectively allow axial motion of mass and disc relative to pole pieces 20 of a pot magnet 19 carried by plug 17 which is screwed into casing part 13. Variation of the gap, between disc 21 and poles 20 alters the inductance of coil 18. Apertured disc 35 screwed into casing part 11 and provided with a lock nut 37 co-operates with nuts 33 and 40 to restrict motion of the mass in either axial direction. The limit of movement away from the poles is set by adjustment of disc 35 and the limit towards the poles by movement of the tight nut 40 with disc 35 locked. The oil-filled casing is completed by a resilient diaphragm 38 and a sealing ring 25.
