Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:746,171. Variable condensers. NAPIER & SON, Ltd., D. Jan. 16, 1953 [Feb. 21, 1962], No. 4647/52. Class 37. In a high-frequency electrical condenser, a brittle casing 10 of insulating material such as fused silica is coated at least in part with a resilient material 24 of, for example, polythene, polystyrene or polytetrafluoroethylene. Concentric condenser plates 13, 14 are mounted on steel end-plates 11, 12, the plates 13 being rigidly bolted to end-plate 11 whereas plates 14 are arranged to slide on a tube 16. The endplates constitute the condenser terminals and spring contacts 17 ensure an efficient connection to the moving plates. The capacity is adjusted by turning rod 20 and the sealing is completed by a bellows 21. Methods of coating include stretching on a cylinder of polythene to make close contact on recovery, hot spraying by means of a flame spray, pre-heating the condenser and blowing on polythene particles moulding and curing polytetrafluoroethylene and applying a number of coats of polystyrene dissolved in a suitable solvent. Specification 689,998 is referred to.
