A tipping body 16 has side gates 17L, 17R, pivoted at 18 and controlled by links 35 pivoted to bell-cranks 38 mounted on pins 39 secured to plate brackets 41 attached to the underside of the body 16. Also mounted on brackets 41 on pin 48 is a cam 47 which is moved by the pin and slot connection 52, 53 as the body tips to the right so that it supports the roller 43 related to the gate 17R to maintain it in its closed position whilst also allowing the roller 43 related to the gate 17L to maintain contact with wear plate 45, thus allowing gate 17L to open. When gate 17L is parallel to body floor stop 56 engages the side of cam 47 to rotate it so that projection 50 engages roller 43 related to gate 17R to lock this gate in closed position.
