Zusammenfassung: | A bearing material comprises a solid non-metallic component of rigid porous material impregnated with polytetrafluoroethylene. The porous material may be porous carbon. The impregnation may be effected by driving a colloidal suspension of plastic material into the pores of the said non-metallic component and subsequently removing the continuous phase of the suspensoid, e.g. by heating. A coagulating agent may be added to the suspensoid after it has been caused to enter the pores of the solid non-metallic component to facilitate the removal of the continuous phase, or alternatively a wetting agent may be employed. The invention is applied to bearings and electrical brushes. |
