Zusammenfassung: | 694,351. Ignition devices for furnaces. C.U.R.A. PATENTS, Ltd. July 28, 1949 [July 29, 1948], No. 20255/48. Class 51(i) Apparatus for igniting the fuel bed of a solid fuel burning appliance includes a jet device, Fig. 2, arranged to deliver a jet of burning liquid into said fuel bed in co-operation with a jet of air, which may enclose the liquid jet, or if separately disposed, may intersect the liquid jet at the surface of the fuel bed. Combustible liquid supplied through a jet 28 screwed into a metal body 30 is ignited by sparking electrodes 33 and 34, electrode 34 being mounted in an insulating sleeve 36. Fig. 4 shows a portable ignition unit comprising- an air nozzle 72 supplied by a blower 74 and enclosing the jet device 73 supplied by a pump 77 with combustible liquid from a tank 76, the whole jet unit being rotatable about shaft-83 of the blower. In Figs; 1 and 3 (not shown) the ignition device is applied to a transportable steam generator of the type disclosed in Specification 587,821 and to a furnace of the type disclosed in Specification 579,324 respectively. In the latter case the air and liquid fuel jets are inclined at an angle intersecting at the fuel bed surface, the air supply being controlled by a gate valve. Specifications 536,233, [Group XIII], and 587,823 also are referred to. |
