Zusammenfassung: | The Specification comprises fatty acid amido-alkyl-amino ester salts of the general formula: wherein R is an alkyl or aralkyl group which may be saturated or unsaturated and contains between 8 and 20 carbon atoms; Ra is H or an alkyl or aralkyl group which may be substituted or unsubstituted; Rb is H or an alkyl group; Rc is an alkylene group; Rd and Re each represent hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups; Rf is an alkyl group containing from 11 to 17 carbon atoms, and X is a halogen atom (other than fluorine). The compounds may be obtained by a process wherein a b -hydroxyethyl amide of an aliphatic or aromatic aliphatic carboxylic acid of the general formula: is condensed with a phosphorus halide (other than fluoride) or sulphur oxy-halide (other than fluoride) and with a fatty acid amine ester of the general formula: In examples: (1) triethanolamine is added to a benzene solution of stearic acid and the mixture refluxed to form a solution of bis-(b -hydroxyethyl)-amino-ethyl stearate which is then refluxed with b -chlorethyl oleoylamide, the latter being prepared separately by treating b -hydroxyethyl oleoylamide with phosphorus trichloride at 60-70 DEG C.; (2) N-methyl diethanolamine is refluxed with a solution of oleic acid in toluene and the solution which contains N-b -hydroxyethyl N-methyl aminoethyl oleate is refluxed with N-b -chlorethyl N-benzyl oleoylamide the latter being obtained by treating N-b -hydroxyethyl N-benzyl oleoylamide with phosphorus trichloride at 60-70 DEG C.; (3) bis-(b -hydroxyethyl)-aminoethyl oleate (prepared as in Specification 587,534), is heated at 120 DEG C. with N-b -chloroethyl N-methyl lauramide the latter being obtained by treating N-b -hydroxyethyl N-methyl lauramide with thionyl chloride at 60 DEG C.; the reaction product has the general formula above. The products are useful as treating agents in the textile industry (see Group IV (c)).ALSO:Compounds having the general formula in which R is alkyl or aralkyl, saturated or unsaturated, and contains 8 to 20 carbon atoms, Ra is H or an alkyl or aralkyl group which may be substituted or unsubstituted, Rb is H or an alkyl group, Rc is an alkylene group; Rd and Re each represent hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups; Rf is an alkyl group of 11 to 17 carbon atoms and X is a halogen atom (other than fluorine) (see Group IV (b)) can be used as auxiliaries to inhibit the formati |
