Zusammenfassung:	Domestic hot water system comprising a cold water inlet 302 receiving a mains supply and a hot water outlet 304, a thermal store 342 for hot water, a heat exchanger 308 connected to the mains supply to heat cold water using a hot fluid received from a hot fluid source 306 and an electric heater 326 receiving water from the heat exchanger. When a demand for hot water is detected a controller 340 determines whether there is sufficient heat stored in the thermal store to provide for the demand. If there is enough heat stored, hot water from the store is passed to the hot water outlet. If there is not enough stored heat, the controller passes water from the heat exchanger through the electric heater to satisfy the demand. A method and computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon are also claimed.
