A motor

A motor (Fig.2, 10) comprises a rotor assembly (Fig.2, 12) and a stator assembly (Fig.2, 16). The rotor assembly comprises an impeller (Fig.3, 22) for generating an airflow. The stator assembly is for causing rotation of the impeller. The stator assembly comprises a bobbin 58 located downstream of the impeller, a stator winding (Fig.8, 60), and a stator core 56. The bobbin comprises a main body 80 and a diffuser vane 82. The stator winding is located about the main body. The stator core is connected to the main body. The diffuser vane is for interacting with the airflow generated by the impeller. The main body at least partially defines an airflow passage (Fig.13, 132) within which the diffuser vane is located. The main body and the diffuser vane are integrally formed. The stator assembly may comprise a wall 86 spaced from the main body to partially define the airflow passage within which the diffuser vane is located. The wall may be integrally formed with the bobbin. The main body may comprise an opening (Fig.14, 106) which exposes the stator core to the airflow generated by the impeller such that the stator core partially defines the airflow passage within which the diffuser vane is located. The diffuser vane may contact the stator core through the opening. The bobbin may be formed of a fibre reinforced plastic. The bobbin may be overmoulded onto the stator core. The motor may be used in a vacuum cleaner or haircare appliance.
