Zusammenfassung:Methods for controlling a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) at a transmitter and receiver of a communications network. Protocol data units (PDUs) of application data are sent by the transmitter to the receiver. It is determined that a first PDU set of the PDUs has not been fully received and a PDU set keep indication is transmitted to the receiver indicating one or more second PDUs for the receiver to keep, wherein the second PDUs do not belong to the first PDU set. The receiver discards one or more pending PDUs stored in its memory buffer that are not indicated by the received PDU set keep indication. The PDU set keep indication may be sent separately to the PDUs of the application data. The PDU set keep indication may be inserted into a second PDU of the one or more second PDUs of the application data.
