Base frame assembly, exterior rear view system and method of assembling an exterior rear view system

The present invention provides a base frame assembly 1 for a road vehicle exterior rear view system, in particular power-folding exterior rear view system. The base frame assembly comprises a base structure 2 configured to be attached to a vehicle body, wherein the base structure comprises a first detent means 3 and a first aperture 4. The base frame assembly further comprises a frame insert 5 configured to be inserted into the first aperture, wherein the frame insert comprises a second detent means 6 and a second aperture 7, wherein the second aperture comprises a smaller area than the first aperture and the first detent means and the second detent means are configured to form, in an inserted state of the frame insert, a predetermined detent geometry (8, figure 7) configured to hold a folding actuator 13. A cable harness (16, figure 5) may pass through the first aperture and the second aperture in the inserted state of the frame insert. Furthermore, the present invention provides an exterior rear view system and a method of assembling such an exterior rear view system.
