Zusammenfassung:	A method of using a powder feeder 10 comprising pushing powder upwardly into a main chamber 12 from at least one secondary chamber 20 using a piston means 28, the at least one secondary chamber being externally connected to the main chamber; shaving, using a shaver element 22, a layer of the powder from a top surface of the powder as the powder exits an opening of the secondary chamber into the main chamber; supplying gas to a gas inlet 14 of the main chamber; transferring, using the shaver element and flow of the gas, the layer of the powder laterally from the opening of the secondary chamber to a powder outlet 16 of the main chamber such that the powder drops down the powder outlet into the manufacturing process. The powder feeder may be for delivering fine powders (1-40microns), such as metal powders, in additive manufacturing processes wherein the shaver element is able to remove a thin layer of powder contained in the secondary chamber for exit through the outlet to produce consistent flow and reduce clogging. The shaver element may be a rotatable screw or conveyor belt.
