Displaying text on a computing device

A computer implemented method for displaying text on a computing device (200), includes: displaying a portion of text (202) on a display (201) of the computing device (200), wherein displaying the text comprises displaying words of the portion of text (202) sequentially at a display rate; obtaining (104) eye tracking information indicating the gaze point position (210) of a user relative to the words of the portion of text on the display that have been displayed; and controlling the sequential display of the portion of text according to the obtained eye tracking information. The display rate of text may be adjusted according to eye tracking information. Also disclosed is a system for third-party observation or analysis of reading being carried out using one or more user devices.
