Zusammenfassung:A fuel gaseous injector 10 for an internal combustion engine, the fuel injector comprising a fuel inlet 66; a valve needle 32 for axial movement within a nozzle bore 16, the needle engageable with a seat 32 to control a gaseous (e.g. hydrogen) fuel delivery via outlet 26; a fuel delivery path; and a return spring 52 which urges the needle closed. A restriction arrangement is provided in the fuel delivery path comprising a restriction member 56 which moves with the needle and defines a variable restriction (102, fig.2) to the fuel flow, and as the needle 32 moves to an open position the variable restriction (102) becomes more restrictive to fuel flow. The restriction arrangement slows or stops the needle as it approaches full lift and reduces the impact of the needle or armature 76 with the lift stop 77.
