Zusammenfassung:At least two audio signals 310 are captured from at least two microphones, and an ambient part of those signals is analysed 314 to determine a difference parameter, based on which a spatial comfort noise is generated 335. The method is used for generating multi-channel audio signals for two-way or multi-way communication. The captured audio signals may have estimated echo signals subtracted 313 from them before their ambient parts are analysed. The spatial comfort noise may be additionally based on an estimated 312 ambient part noise level. The difference parameter may relate to a delay between a pair of audio signals, or a phase difference or level difference, which may be used to determine a directional parameter. Alternatively, the difference parameter may be determined based on a diffuseness of the audio signals. The difference parameter may be obtained by spatially analysing the ambient part of some/all time and/or frequency elements of the audio signals for which there is no active non-stationary audio source.
