Zusammenfassung: | Antenna comprising: antenna element 100a comprising, magnetostrictive layer 102, piezoelectric layer 104 and transducer arrangement to include one or more transducers 108 (e.g surface acoustic wave resonators) to generate a mechanical strain field in antenna element producing displacement of surface of magnetostrictive layer. Antenna receives and transmits electromagnetic waves through the magnetoelectric effect at its acoustic resonance frequency. Antenna element may detect an environmental characteristic in region surrounding antenna element to generate mechanical strain field in antenna element based on environmental characteristic. Piezoelectric layer 104 may comprise a memristive, memcapacitive or complex memimpedance characteristic: piezoelectric layer then set to defined non-volatile condition by application of voltage/charge. Transducer arrangement may comprise plurality of transducers operable to generate mechanical strain field interference pattern in the antenna element, and further include waveguide (110,fig1). Antenna element array may comprise a honeycomb antenna element array of hexagonal shape antenna elements provided with one or more dedicated transducers. The transducers are operable to generate a mechanical strain field in a plurality of antenna elements. The antenna may comprise reflectors 112 configured to reflect mechanical strain wave generated by the transducers. Embodiments include frequency selective surface comprising antenna whereby transducer arrangement tunes the frequency selective surface with employment on vehicle or aircraft. |
