Apparatus for eye examination

An eye examination apparatus 1 comprises a movable slit lamp and a movable camera 20, each mounted on respective arms. A fundus lens 60 is aligned with the camera 20 by mounting assembly comprising a plinth 110 and a bracket 120. The plinth comprises a pair of notches (119, fig. 3b) defined between side fingers (117, 118), each notch having a relatively wide opening and narrowing towards a blind end. The bracket comprises a pair of projecting lugs (129). The narrowing profile of the notches guides a corresponding lug as the bracket is brought together with the plinth until the lugs abut the curved blind end of the notches when the bracket and plinth are in the desired alignment. A magnet (30) on plinth 110 holds the bracket in position for use. The apparatus may have one or more motors to move the lamp and camera arms and a corresponding control unit to enable remote operation.
