Liquid and connection detection

A connector receptacle 200 comprises a housing having a passage 202, and a tongue 210 located in the passage 202. A first plurality of contacts 220 are on a top side of the tongue 210, and a second plurality of contacts 220 are on a bottom side of the tongue 210. A first opening 232 is in a first side of the passage 202, where a first side ground contact 230 is positioned in the first opening 232 in the passage 202. A second opening 242 in the passage 202 is where a first connection-detect contact 240 is positioned. A further aspect comprises liquid-detect contacts (figure 7, 730) on both sides of the tongue (figure 7, 710). Another aspect comprises a ground pad (figure 7, 750) on the tongue (figure 7, 710), where first and second contacts (figure 7, 722, 724) are longer than a liquid detect contact (figure 7, 730) which is between the first and second contacts (figure 7, 722, 724).
