Zusammenfassung:A motor vehicle traction battery module 10 has a rigid battery housing 12 and multiple plate-shaped pouch battery cells 20, 20'arranged in parallel therein. Additional plate-shaped cooling structure(s) 30 are positioned between adjacent cells 20, 20'and are compressible in the transverse direction Y and perpendicular to its plate plane XZ. Cooling structure 30 comprises two studded / undulating / peak-trough plates 32, 33 made from a sheet metal, and an elastic pressure structure 34 between undulating plates 32, 33 so to push them away from each other so that cooling liquid 50 flows between undulating / studded plates 32, 33, which have a sinusoidal profile, and respective side walls 22, 22', directly contacting battery cell side walls, so to cool. Stud peaks 44 and hollows 40 and valley areas 45 maximise cooling fluid 50 contact with side walls 22, 22' and accommodate cell expansion caused by heat production during cell use. Plates 32, 33 may be configured so that peaks 44 of one plate are nested within valleys 45 of another. Hydraulic cooling capacity remains unchanged even with a compression of the cooling structure forced by an expansion of the pouch battery cells.
