Zusammenfassung: | A braking system is provided for a trailer vehicle. The system has an electronic control unit (ECU, 20, Figure 1) operable to control first and second brake assemblies (30, 32, Figure 1) associated respectively with first and second wheels on first and second sides of the vehicle. The method includes assessing that a first brake demand signal has been received (step 100), receiving a second brake demand signal (step 102) and, in response to receiving the second brake demand signal, performing a controlled release cycle involving releasing the first brake assembly followed by reapplying the first brake assembly (step 110), then releasing the second brake assembly followed by reapplying the second brake assembly (step 120). The first brake demand is typically a persistent brake demand such as a handbrake or other parking brake, and the second brake demand is typically a temporary brake demand such as a footbrake. Typically, if the second brake demand (e.g. a footbrake) is released, the brakes are released entirely (step 130). |
