Zusammenfassung:Encoding of image data where metadata associated with the image is encoded using a repetition code. Decoding is done using a voting method. Preferably the repetition is three, five or seven times, implementing forward error correction (FEC). Preferably the image is divided into blocks with uniform size and frequency transformed (e.g. by DCT) and quantised. The metadata may be image metadata 11 such as timestamp information. Image header information 10 may also be repetition coded. The image may be one of a series of image frames encoded similarly.
