Zusammenfassung:	A data processing system, such as a games console, executes a video game. The video game sends information about the controls used in the game to a control indication program. The program displays information about the controls to the user. The program may run on a different system to the game. The information may include the actions that are carried out when a particular button is pressed. The information may change when the in-game situation changes. The information may be displayed in response to a trigger, such as no input being detected from a user, or a particular input is received from the user. The information may be displayed in a control plane 401B to the side of the gaming pane 401A. The controller may be displayed in two orientations, 402A and 402B with indications of functions 403A and 404A and the corresponding buttons 403B and 404B. Alternatively, the information may be displayed on the game controller.
