Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:A separation system (200, fig.22) for a vacuum cleaner (1, fig.1), comprising a chamber 105, preferably a bin (100, fig.18) for collecting dirt, housing a filter (204, fig.22) for filtering airflow entering through an airflow inlet 134, preferably in a base (102, fig.18) of the bin moveable for emptying, and an inlet valve assembly 144 with an inlet valve member (146, fig.7) pivotable, preferably via a fabric hinge (148, fig.7), between a closed position, to which it is biased, in which the airflow inlet is obstructed, and an open position in which the airflow inlet is unobstructed, wherein the inlet valve member pivots about a horizontal axis in response to suction, generated by a suction motor (500, fig.78), within the chamber. The inlet valve member may abut an inlet valve guard (150, fig.7), in the form of a concave hood, in the open position, and may shape airflow entering the chamber when in said open position. The vacuum cleaner may have a handle (700, fig.51) such that when it is held during normal use, the inlet valve member pivot axis extends horizontally.
