Zusammenfassung:A tooling 14 for supporting workpieces during printing has a support tower 15 with head 19 which moves relative to a base 17 in a horizontal plane. The head 19 has at least first and second support surfaces 22A,B, each for supporting a singulated workpiece substrate. The first support surface 22A is vertically moveable relative to the second. In a pre-printing configuration, the first and second support surfaces 22A,B are staggered to be spaced in a vertical direction, one higher than the other. In a printing configuration, the first and second support surfaces 22A,B are aligned to be coplanar in a horizontal plane, using an actuator or spring. Additional support surfaces may form a liner or two-dimensional matrix array on the head 19 (figure 13). A printing method comprises determining orientation of workpieces using a camera before bringing the first support surface 22A into contact with a workpiece (figure 6B), then lifting the tooling to bring the second support surface 22B into contact with another workpiece (figure 8B).
