Telecommunications network

A wireless local area network 300 includes a wireless access point 310, user devices 320 and wireless repeaters 331, some of which are configured to virtualise a Media Access Control, MAC, address of the user device when the user device is connected to the wireless repeater. A network management system NMS 220 obtains data including a first plurality of records, each record relating to a user device and including a MAC address and a signal strength value. The NMS also obtains data including a second plurality of records, each record including a Basic Service Set Identifier, BSSID, and a signal strength value. For each MAC address in the first plurality of records, a record of the second plurality of records is identified having a BSSID that sufficiently matches the MAC address and having a difference in signal strength value within a threshold. A first hop repeater identifier is assigned to each record of the first plurality of records having the MAC address based on the BSSID of the identified record of the second plurality of records. A reconfiguration in the wireless local area network is based on the first hop repeater identifiers.
