Zusammenfassung:A method of operating a hydrocarbon production system 1, the hydrocarbon production system comprising a power source configured to power the hydrocarbon production system, the method comprising using ammonia as an energy source for the power source to power the hydrocarbon production system. The system may be offshore. The power source may be an ammonia combusting combustion engine and further the system may comprise a steam engine ran in a combined cycle with the combustion engine to provide power. The power source may be a fuel cell and may further be either an ammonia or hydrogen fuel cell, the latter being fuelled by hydrogen produced from cracked ammonia. Further disclosed is a method of assembling a hydrocarbon production and/or processing system, providing configured equipment and infrastructure, and providing power to said system using ammonia as an energy source. Further disclosed is a method of retrofitting an existing hydrocarbon production system comprising decommissioning and/or removing an existing power source at the hydrocarbon production system, installing a new power source configured to provide energy for hydrocarbon production system which uses ammonia as the energy source.
