Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Operating a wireless telecommunications network (100), comprising a plurality of User Equipment (UE) (110), a Wireless Access Point (WAP) (120), and a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) (140) provided by the WAP. Managing the UEs by means of information or instructions embedded within a network identifier, comprising: associating, against each of the UEs, an item of information and a unique character slot for the item of information (410); compiling each item of information into a string, wherein said items of information are arranged according to each associated character slot (420); broadcasting, by means of the WAP, a network identifier for the WLAN, said network identifier comprising the compiled string (430); identifying, by means of each of the UEs, the broadcast network identifier (440); retrieving, by means of each UE, the character slot for the associated UE; and using, by means of each UE, the retrieved character slot so as to extract the associated item of information from the identified network identifier. The network identifier may be a Service Set Identifier (SSID), generated by the WAP such that it includes instruction codes for respective intended target UEs. The instructions may comprise e.g. two consecutive ASCII characters, and may be embedded within the SSID at respective character positions assigned to those UEs. So, a single SSID may be generated (of e.g. 20 characters) containing instructions (of e.g. 2 characters each) for a plurality (e.g. ten UEs).
