Zusammenfassung:An endoscopic vessel harvesting tool uses an optical system to present a video image to a user. A camera unit 86 insertable into the harvesting device 88 comprises optical fibre extending longitudinally between a distal lens and a proximal image sensor. As the tool is manipulated around all sides of the vessel to dissect and cut surrounding tissue and side branches, the orientation of the captured image rotates. An angular motion tracker (e.g. multi-axis inertial sensor) detects this axial rotation, and the camera view orientation is compensated by counter-rotating the captured images to be displayed to the user. Images can thus be displayed upright, or in any preferred orientation, independent of the axial rotation of the camera and harvesting device.
