Method of operating a telecommunications system

A method 200 of restricting resource usage within a telecommunications system. The system has a telecommunications network and a client device (e.g. an internet of things (IoT) device), configured to communicate data to the network. The method comprises identifying the client device, a network service, provided by the network and for use by the client device, and an attribute of the client device 210. A resource limit restricting use of resources by the system for processing data for the network service is determined in dependence upon the identified network service and attribute 220, and a ticket for the client device and/or network service comprising the determined resource limit is generated 230. The client device and/or the network service is then configured to limit allocation of resources, in dependence upon the resource limit in the ticket/s 250. The resources may be computational processing, wireless transmission, memory, energy, and/or cost and the resource limit may be determined based on identified available resources.
